Medical Emergencies

In the event of a life-threatening medical emergency within the USA call 911. There is no need to contact IEES prior to seeking medical attention. None of the IEES policies require that you receive medical attention at a preferred provider organization (PPO) in order to avoid financial penalties. Although some policies may have a co-payment for use of an emergency room which does not result in an in-patient admission, you should go directly to the emergency room for true medical emergencies. IEES policies do not require pre-certification for any in-patient or out-patient services.

In the event of a life-threatening medical emergency outside the USA, there is no need to contact IEES prior to seeking medical attention. If you feel comfortable receiving medical treatment from a local facility, IEES policies do not require that you receive medical attention at specified facilities in order to avoid financial penalties. However, if you are in need of a referral or medical assistance, contact the assistance company which services your group account, FrontierMEDEX Assistance. Please refer to the MEDEX identification card you have been given by your group sponsor for contact information. MEDEX is open everyday of the year, 24 hours a day. Contact FrontierMEDEX Emergency Response Center  immediately for referrals, medical evacuations* and repatriations*, payment arrangements, and patient medical monitoring.
